AdSense tips: comics blog

Hi,

i just read your posts (on your blog) on Adsense/Google and i found them very useful and well written.

my name is Dobry and i am bulgarian. i am new to all that matter - blogging, click counts, adsense, etc. i've been thinking about starting a new blog, but not just a blog, but a webcomic blog.

maybe you could give me your opinion - whether this is gonna be worth. this blog project MUST bring me (adsense) money. i'm not talking about getting rich with it, just a couple of hundreds dollars per month. anything between $200 - $300 per month would be enough. do you think it's possible?

also, i was thinking about starting it at Blogger. would it be appropriate?

again, i'm a newbie at this. any help will be useful (and appreciated)

Thank you for your comments. It is possible to achieve the target of $300/month, if you really get into this and consider it as serious as a regular daily job. Blogger is going to be just fine, as well as any bloging platform that makes you feel comfortable and has all the features that you need.

Considering that you will have a blog with comics, photos, don't blog with photos only. You will need to think of a way, conceptually, to put text in every blog post. This is mainly because AdSense ads are being generated depending on the textual contents of your site. No text = no ads displayed.

Writing about highly competitive themes, like real estate, jewelry & watches, consumer electronics, clothes, and so on, will get you higher value of the clicks. And it makes a lot of difference whether a click is worth $1 or a few cents, right? I recommend writing in English for at least 2 reasons: a) you address to a much bigger audience and b) more ads will compete to be displayed on your site.

Another tip for you is to position your ads on the places which are most visible to the visitors. If your template allows you, put an ad at the top of the sidebar. You can also try to embed an ad just below or above the post. Just remember, the first ad that comes in your HTML code is the one that will display highest paying ads.

Also remember to always work on promoting your blog. You can do that by commenting on other blogs, submitting your blog to search engines, social networking sites (del.icio.us, digg...), exchanging links etc. Do not expect great results from the start, because you need to build up site traffic first.

If you are using Firefox, there is a nice extension for it, named Adsense Notifier, which can periodically get your AdSense score and display it in the browser's status bar. This will save you some time.
